Development & Communications Intern Description:
Behind the Book seeks a Development & Communications Intern to assist with the organization’s donor relations and cultivation. The position is ideal for a go-getter with excellent organizational and communication skills. The position will be based at our Harlem office and/or remotely. The commitment is for ten hours per week, with some flexibility. You will be required to come into the office at least once per month. The position is paid $16/hour.
The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, eager to learn, and able to manage tasks independently. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are required. Experience in developing content for social media is a plus. The intern will report to the Director of Development.
Intern Responsibilities Will Include:
Assisting with donor communications, including thank you letters;
Profiling and thanking donors and volunteers on Behind the Book’s website and in our newsletter and on social media;
Drafting content for newsletters and social media posts;
Assisting with preparation for fundraising events;
Research donors and new funding streams, including individuals, corporations and foundations;
Other duties as assigned.
