As a book designer and art director, Sara’s career included 21 years as Art Director and Vice President of Dutton Children’s Books, a division of Penguin Young Readers Group.

Prior to her publishing career, Sara spent eight years teaching studio art and art history in grades 8-12. Sara led workshops and facilitated Behind the Book’s student book publishing program, bringing professional design and production standards to the classroom anthologies of student writing and art created in Behind the Book’s workshops.

Retired from her professional career, Sara now is a school guide at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Met Cloisters.
