Emily Balcetis is an Associate Professor of Psychology at New York University and the director of the Social Perception Action and Motivation Lab.

With over 20 years of experience conducting research on behavioral science, judgment and decision-making, and self-regulation, Dr. Balcetis has uncovered obstacles and solutions to problems people face when trying to set and meet goals and maintain motivation.

Her research is funded by several grants from industry and governmental agencies including National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. She has published more than 70 scientific manuscripts, has delivered two TEDx talks viewed by millions, and is the author of Clearer, Closer, Better: How Successful People See the World
