WHO:
Monique Truong is the author of the novels, Bitter in the Mouth, and The Book of Salt, which was a national bestseller and honored as a 2003 New York Times Notable Book, a Chicago Tribune Favorite Fiction Book, one of the Village Voice‘s 25 Favorite Books, and one of the Miami Herald‘s Top 10 Books.  The Book of Salt also received the New York Public Library Young Lions Fiction Award, the Bard Fiction Prize, and a PEN Oakland/Josephine Miles National Literary Award, among other awards.  Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Times of London Saturday Magazine, Gourmet, Food & Wine, and numerousother publications.  She was a PEN/Robert Bingham Fellow, a Princeton University’s Hodder Fellow, and is now a 2010 Guggenheim Fellow.  She is also an intellectual property attorney, and lives in Brooklyn.

Jessica Francis Kane is the author of The Report, which is short-listed for the prestigious 2010 Flaherty-Dunnan First Novel Prize from the Center for Fiction and has recently been named a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers title.  Her first book, Bending Heaven, is a short story collection, which the New York Times praised as “that rarest of debut collections: grounded but thoughtful, learned without being pretentious. [S]tories take place in what feels like Lorrie Moore and Alice Munro country....” Her stories have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and have appeared in Granta, McSweeney’s, and Virginia Quarterly Review, among other publications.  She is a recipient of the Lawrence Foundation Prize and has received fellowships from the MacDowell Colony and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.  She lives in New York City with her husband and their two children.
