WHO:

Melissa Walker is a writer who has worked as ELLEgirl Features Editor and Seventeen Prom Editor. All in the name of journalism, she has spent 24 hours with male models and attended an elite finishing school for girls in New Zealand, among other hardships.  In 2006, she fulfilled a life-long dream by appearing as a talking head "expert" on VH1's The Fabulous Life of Celebrity Kids.  Melissa lives in Brooklyn and has a BA in English from Vassar College.  She has recently published two novels for young adults, Violet by Design and Violet on the Runway.

Carolyn Mackler is the author of the award-winning teen novels, The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things (A Michael L. Printz Honor Book), Vegan Virgin Valentine, and Love and Other Four-Letter Words. Her latest novel, Guyaholic: A Story of Finding, Flirting, Forgetting…and the Boy Who Changes Everything, was published in August 2007.  Carolyn has contributed to magazines including Seventeen, Glamour, CosmoGIRL!, Girls’ Life, Storyworks, and American Girl. She has a short story in Thirteen, edited by James Howe, and in Sixteen, edited by Megan McCafferty.  Carolyn lives with her husband and young son in New York City.  A graduate of Vassar College, she is currently working on her fifth novel for teenagers.

Bennett Madison is the author of the Lulu Dark mysteries and the upcoming The Blonde of the Joke, which will be published by HarperCollins in September.  His fourth novel for young adults, The Blonde of the Joke is a darkly funny story of two girls and their complex friendship that begins and ends in the thrilling victory of stealing as much as they possibly can from the larger-than-life mall.  Mr. Madison attended Sarah Lawrence College, and now lives in Brooklyn, New York.

Michael Northrop is the author of Gentlemen, a mystery for young adults forthcoming from Scholastic in April 2009. He has worked as an editor at Sports Illustrated Kids and The World Almanac and briefly moonlighted as a standup comedian. His non-fiction has appeared in Sports Illustrated, The Morning News, and People online, and his fiction and humor have appeared in Notre Dame Review, McSweeney’s, Weird Tales, and other publications.
