Behind the Book Authors
Rule the 2009 National Book Awards!
Congratulations to Behind the Book authors, Colum McCann and Rita Williams-Garcia. Colum McCann's Let the GreatWorld Spin, has been nominated for the National Book Award for Fiction.
Rita Williams-Garcia's Jumped has been nominated for the National Book Award for Young People's Literature. On November 17, 2009, both authors will participate in the 2009 National Book Award finalist reading led by Master of Cermonies and fellow Behind the Book author, Joshua Ferris. Behind the Book author, Coe Booth will also be a judge in the Young People's Literature competition.

The mission of Behind the Book is to excite children and young adults about reading. Working with low-income students in New York City’s K-12 public schools, Behind the Book brings authors and their books into individual classrooms to build literacy skills and nurture a new generation of book readers.
